In the name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful Praise be to Allah and peace and blessings be upon His last messenger Muhammed. BRIEF BACKGROUND: With the Grace of Allah (Subhanuh) and the support of a group of dedicated Muslim people, WAMY (Australia & South Pacific) was established and registered in Australia in 2002. Its main purpose is to serve certain important needs of the Muslim youth and student, in particular, and the whole society in general. WAMY, the main organisation, was founded in 1973 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Since then it has to be a major international Muslim organisation embracing over 400 Muslim youth, student and Community organisations in five continents. MISSION of WAMY (Australia & South Pacific) To raise a distinguished Muslim youth generation who would contribute positively to their people and country. OBJECTIVES: - Organising and coordinating educational and training programs aimed at promoting better understanding and awareness of Islam;
- Organising religious and cultural activities which promotes harmony and peace in the society; and
- Participating in other community activities and assisting and coordinating community projects with other Muslim and non-Muslim organisations.
ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMS: - Establishing and supporting Quran and Islamic studies classes
- Organising Islamic lectures, training courses, seminars, camps and conferences.
- Organising visits and tours by Muslim scholars.
- Organising and supporting sportive activities and programs.
- Organising meetings and presentations to explain Islam to non-Muslims.
- Conducting research and producing quality Islamic programs and supporting community Islamic projects.
- Organising programs aimed at explaining the harmful effects of intoxicants, illicit drugs and immoral behavior.
- Distributing Islamic books, brochures, pamphlets and audio-visual materials.
9. Organising lftars (Feeding the Fasting) Project in Ramadan in coordination with local organisations. AFFILATION TO INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS WAMY, the main organisations, is affiliated to and working jointly with a number of international organisations for the promotion of peace, harmony and combating illicit drugs. It is a member of United Nations Non-Government organisations (NGOs). It is also a member of the international Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations for the prevention of drug and substance abuse (IFNGO). |
